Midweek practice drama: what’s real and what’s noise

📝 News & Notes

Quick reminder: if a player unexpectedly misses Wednesday’s practice, it is often just a scheduled rest day. Wait until Thursday practice reports before getting concerned. Be careful of the clickbait tweets and articles sensationalizing a player’s missing of practice Wednesday (saw quite a few of these for Lamar Jackson yesterday).

Bucky Irving spotted at Wednesday’s practice [Logan Robinson]
My take: Potential props to FFin60 readers who the majority voted Bucky to be the first Buc to return to action. While this is promising news, because of the nature of the shoulder injury, I am holding my excitement until we see him able to practice with contact. Bowles noted he is wanting to see how Bucky looks at practice Thursday before making any decisions for this weekend.

If all goes according to plan, Brock Purdy and Ricky Pearsall will return together for the 49ers on Sunday [David Lombardi]
My take: This tweet is rather vague in what “return” means in football terms but it sounds like we may actually see both active and starting on Sunday. I’d imagine we’ll need to see a full practice from Purdy before he takes over as starting QB. Pearsall could see action with just LPs but either way, expectation would be a gradual ramp up.

Jameis Winston to start for the Giants in Week 11 [Giants]
My take: The Giants just got a lot more interesting, at least for one week. Despite Winston’s limitations, he has proven to be a major boost for accompanying WRs. Darius Slayton and Wan’Dale Robinson both become decent WR3/FLEX options.

📺️ TNF Game Preview

8:15pm ET on Amazon Prime: NYJ @ NE (NE -12.5, O/U 48.5)

Start with confidence
Patriots - Drake Maye, TreVeyon Henderson, Stefon Diggs, NE DST
Jets - Breece Hall

Start them if you need to
Patriots - Hunter Henry, K Andy Borregales
Jets -

Sit them if you can
Patriots - Mack Hollins, Demario Douglas, Kyle Williams
Jets - Justin Fields, ALL Jets WRs, Mason Taylor, K Nick Folk, NYJ DST

My favorite bet of the Night
Breece Hall U 58.5 rushing yards
The Patriots have limited opposing RBs to fewer than 55 yards in every game this year. And given the double digit spread, we expect the Jets to struggle to score and play most the game in negative game script. The counter would be that Breece Hall is coming off stat lines of 18/133/2 and 21/83/0 but that fails to account for the Jets having won both those games. Not expecting the same script tonight.

📊 Poll of the Day

Yesterday’s poll: If Dobbins were to miss the rest of the season, where would you rank RJ Harvey?

No poll today but go ahead and take a second to share FFin60 with a friend who could use a little fantasy football help after a rough season!
