Apologies to My Neighbors for the Noise

I am sitting here at midnight typing this up and I have no idea how to start this email. About an hour ago the Falcons beat the Rams and with it, I finished in 2nd place in Drafters’ Best Ball Championship for $200,000. For those that don’t know much about me but have stumbled upon FFin60, best ball has been a major focus and passion for me over the past decade and in my opinion, it’s the ultimate way to compete in fantasy football at large scale volume. And to have another result like this, despite the game getting tougher and the competition sharper, it’s all just surreal.

No question as I look back on these six years and what I’ve been able to accomplish playing a silly game, I am undoutedly living out the top 1% of my possible life outcomes.

2020: won BBM
2021: 4th place in DK Best Ball Millionaire
2023: won DK Luxury Box, 2nd in $555
2025: 2nd place in Drafters Best Ball Championship

Four out of six years with a six-figure hit. It will still likely take some time for it all to sink in but when I think back on the year, I can’t ignore the impact FFin60 likely had on my summer drafting. From training camp reports to drafting strategy discussion (this team used the 3 late QB + 3 late TE strategy) to player takes (Travis Etienne on this team!) to everything else in between, in part it’s thanks to you all for reading this newsletter daily and caring about what I have to say about fantasy football.

📝 News & Notes

As we transition to Week 18, the name of the game for those playing DFS or any form of fantasy still active is motivation. What teams have the motivation to keep giving 100%? What teams are resting their starters? What teams are somewhere in between? That’s what we’ll attempt to uncover throughout this week as we also get set for fantasy football playoff contests.

Justin Herbert to sit Week 18 as Chargers rest for playoffs
My take: The Chargers are locked into a wild card spot for the playoffs but seem content settling for any of the 5th, 6th or 7th seeds. Playing against Denver who locks up the 1-seed with a win, and with the Bills getting the Jets at home, we can expect the Chargers are likely to end up in the 7-seed and play New England in the Wild Card round.

Eagles are still thinking through if they’ll play their starters
My take: The Eagles are locked into either the 2nd or 3rd seed but the difference in the two could be the difference between being a heavy favorite to the Packers or close to a toss-up vs the Rams, not to mention possible home field advantage in the divsional round. What makes it tricky is in order to get the 2-seed, they’d also need the Bears to lose at home to the Lions as 2.5 point favorites.

The Falcons beating the Rams makes the Panthers the favorite for the NFC South, as now they either need to win (3 point underdogs) or ATL needs to beat the Saints (2.5 point favorites). I would not be drafting any Bucs for playoff best ball.
