🏈 Best Ball Playoffs Sweat

One of the common questions I get around this time of year is some variation of ‘what is the best way to sweat my best ball teams in the playoffs?’ Obviously, there is nothing we can do right now to alter the results of our best ball teams but we spent all summer drafting for the playoffs, so why not spend a little more time figuring out the best way to enjoy the weekend sweat.

Here’s my general process. While I have too many teams to individually go through them, I like to get a general understanding of what players I most want to succeed and what players I wouldn’t mind if they put up a dud. This comes down to seeing who I have more of or less of compared to the field.

For Underdog, you can either wait until they update in the app or I recommend using third party tools like https://bbmdb.com/ and https://bbmportfolio.com/. Both are great sites; I regularly use the portfolio feature and expected advance rate features on BBMDB and I really like the Round 2 Dashboard feature on BBM Portfolio (my dashboard highlights below).

For DraftKings, you can go into your Upcoming tab, Best Ball, and then View My Player Exposure. This will show you across all your live DK teams, your playoff exposure. While I do not know any ability to directly compare your ownership vs the field, you can use the Underdog BBM data as a proxy. Note: these are the percentage of teams that will have that player in the playoffs (not the advance rate).

After this week, when we likely lose 90-95% of our playoff teams, I’ll start diving deeper into my teams still alive and what pieces are unique in each of their pods. If you have fewer teams, that is always another fun way to start the sweat this week.
