Biggest OTA Surprises for Each Team

Happy 4th of July!

📝 News & Notes

  • ESPN put out “A look at the players who during OTAs this spring were the biggest surprises for each team” [@AdamSchefter]

My take: probably a lot of noise in this article but will note the info I think most actionable that we haven’t discussed much before

    1) Josh ‘Reynolds is the clear-cut leader for the WR2 job.’ This is not likely to be a high-volume role but Reynolds a decent last-round stack option for Fields drafters.

    2) Jermaine ‘Burton has made all the right moves. He was attentive and engaged throughout the spring workouts. He earned praise from every person who was asked about him, including offensive coordinator Dan Pitcher.’ It has never been a talent question for Burton so if he’s actually able to get off the field issues resolved, he’s a major upgrade for the offense over Andrei Iosivas

    3) Pat Bryant ‘showed he will do his part to carve out some playing time’ however noting ‘playing time will be hard to come by with Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mims Jr. and Troy Franklin getting most of the work with the starters.’ Bryant’s ADP on DraftKings is 181 which feels like a solid price to mix him in as a low floor, high upside dart throw

  • Vikings beat reporter Alec Lewis sees clarity in their #3 WR role. [The Athletic]

Jailen Nailor: “He will be the team’s No. 3 receiver.”

Tai Felton: “Expect his rookie campaign to be spent mostly on special teams”

My take: this is pretty strong wording and considering Felton was a third round rookie, wouldn’t be shocking if he doesn’t see may offensive snaps. I haven’t been taking much Felton but will start mixing in last round Nailor to JJ McCarthy stacks.

📊 Poll of the Day

Nobody wants the QBs. And everyone else is split on their favorite last-round position to draft. My current preference is TE because there are half a dozen likely starters that can fill out a solid 3-TE team. But as training camp starts, I’ll likely be shifting more to RBs and WRs as we get increased confidence in our projections and specifically contingency upsides.
