Fantasy Football W4: Buy / Sell / Hold

A new QB starter in New York

📝 News & Notes

NYG: Jaxson Dart named Week 4 starter
My take: As with any rookie QB, the floor is very low but the upside if he’s good is far higher than what Russell Wilson brought to the offense. Dart finished the preseason going 32 of 47 for 372 yards, with 3 TDs and 0 INTs (and 6 carries for 52 yds and a TD). Important to keep expectations managed particularly with the difficult upcoming schedule but I think this will be a net positive for fantasy skill players on NYG in the second half of the season.

TEN: HC Brian Callahan is turning over offensive play calling duties to QB coach Bo Hardegree
My take: It can’t get much worse than what Brian Callahan has done for this offense through three weeks. Hardegree’s most recent experience was as the interim OC for the Raiders in 2023, which included a 30-6 win over NYG in his first game and also the 63-21 point victory over the Chargers.

📝 FF Market: Buy / Sell / Hold

Week 1: BUY Zach Charbonnet, SELL Aaron Jones, HOLD Jaylen Waddle
Week 2: BUY Brian Thomas Jr., SELL James Cook, HOLD AJ Brown & DeVonta Smith

Jaylen Warren: BUY
Jaylen Warren’s usage has him primed for a breakout, with the threat of Kaleb Johnson decreasing by the day. Warren is 7th among RBs in target share and 3rd among RBs in team’s receiving yards market share. He also has the 4th highest red zone rushing usage % among all RBs. All that is to say is Warren is on path for positive touchdown regression and with a little Steelers offensive improvement, a very strong season.

David Montgomery: SELL
This is a tough one because on one hand David Montgomery has the highest contingency value of any RB in the league, combining it with single game upside as we saw in Week 3. However, on the other, this will likely have been David Montgomery’s highest scoring game this season and the underlying usage isn’t promising. Jahmyr Gibbs has a near 2-1 lead on the workload as well as the two minute drill role and this is unlikely to radically change without an injury. If you can get a person to overpay, take it.

Derrick Henry: HOLD
Derrick Henry drafters may be sounding the alarm given two underwhelming performances and fumbles being at the forefront of the conversation. But resist the urge to sell low as nothing about the Derrick Henry thesis has really changed. If anything, the age cliff risk does not appear to be a 2025 issue and benching risk for fumbling is near non-existent for a player like Henry.

📊 Poll of the Day

Yesterday’s poll: Rest of season, where would you rank Trey Benson?

My vote is in the RB16-20 range as his upside will be capped by Demarcado likely having the pass down role, but the early down and short yardage back for the Cardinals is still a very valuable role. If he is able to become a true workhorse, he could climb as high as the RB10 - RB12 range.
