📝 News & Notes

Thursday's practices handed us a temporary scare and a batch of Week 1 clarity for the last of your drafts.

D'Andre Swift (CHI, RB) exited Thursday's practice holding his midsection after a carry from the Bears' own 1-yard line, in what The Athletic called "significant discomfort," though early word from sources is it may just be cramping. Rome Odunze also left the session with an apparent injury but doesn’t appear to be serious.
My take: The season cannot come soon enough. I am not going to change my ranking as a result of cramping but it was an interesting exercise to think through who we’d be drafting if Swift suffered an injury. Roschon was the answer (given Monangai’s injury as well) but don’t think I’m touching him now.

Ashton Jeanty (LV, RB) got the update his drafters were hoping for: the Raiders are calling it a low-ankle sprain, not high, and Klint Kubiak grinned "yes" when asked if Jeanty will play Week 1 at Miami. Low-ankle sprains carry a far shorter runway than the high-ankle version everyone feared.
My take: This is a positive though the larger concern is what role Mike Washington Jr. is going to play this year. Reports came out that Kubiak jumped on the table for Washington and given his history of split backfields, it’s dropped Jeanty to a third rounder for me.

Breece Hall (NYJ, RB) is still tracking toward Week 1 as he works back from a groin strain, with the Jets wanting to see him practice this week or next before the opener.
My take: There is still so much upside for Breece Hall if he can 1) stay healthy and 2) get the goal line work. Braelon Allen and Isaiah Davis will continue to pose a threat from a projections standpoint but that’s already baked into the 3rd round price tag.

Elsewhere: Alec Pierce was a full participant Thursday and looks good to go for the Colts' opener; Chuba Hubbard is back at practice, but Dave Canales confirmed a committee with Jonathon Brooks, who's now nursing his own soreness on the side.
