📝 News & Notes
Wednesday's practices sharpened the Week 1 picture and the #1 overall pick just got stronger
Isiah Pacheco (DET, RB) landed on injured reserve Tuesday and will miss at least the first four games, with an MCL sprain compounded by a back issue Dan Campbell flagged this week.
My take: Gibbs is the clear RB1. Always has been. Don’t get cute.
Bijan Robinson (ATL, RB) talked up Atlanta's new scheme opening running lanes, but recent reports from beat writers now have Brian Robinson Jr. cast as the short-yardage and goal-line back.
My take: Nothing threatens Bijan's spot as a top-two pick (RB2, ADP 2) or his volume. But this is just another reason the separates Bijan from Gibbs. Any hint of Brian Robinson playing the Allgeier role is a knock in the overall ceiling for Bijan. Brian Robinson is also likely a great value at how late he goes in drafts.
Mike Evans (SF, WR) returned to practice Wednesday after a groin issue, keeping him on track for Week 1 in his new San Francisco offense.
My take: It’s pretty clear whether or not Evans is a good pick this year will be dependent upon if he can stay healthy. He’s someone I’m going to love playing in DFS, and in my leagues when healthy, but am concerned these injuries will linger through the season.
J.K. Dobbins (DEN, RB) is "moving well" and on track for Week 1, per Sean Payton.
My take: Dobbins in a Payton offense at RB33 (r8) is a fine mid-round flier if he's fully healthy. I like the price more than the projection, so I'm not reaching, but he's a reasonable RB bet with real weekly upside when healthy.
Elsewhere: Malik Nabers (NYG) was back in individual and team drills Wednesday, and his Week 1 debut looks more likely by the day; George Kittle travelled with the team to Australia which suggests he will likely suit up for Week 1.
