With Lamar Jackson and Tyler Huntley both out, Jacksonville rolls into Baltimore as a rare double-digit road favorite led by a 25-year old rookie getting his first start.
My favorite play for tonight is Derrick Henry Under 70 yards. This is a recipe for disaster for Henry as the Jags have the defense to stop him early and the offense to put the Ravens in negative game script where Henry’s usage takes a hit in the second half.
Best price I’m finding is at Novig (can get $25 in free credits after depositing $10).
📝 News & Notes
The Ravens trade for Jacoby Brissett to steady a quarterback room gutted by Lamar Jackson's thumb injury (surgery, headed to IR) and Tyler Huntley's season-ending turf toe. The deal landed too late in a short week to get him up to speed, though, so undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano still starts tonight, with Brissett slated to take over in Week 10.
My take: Zay Flowers may be the biggest winner of this trade for fantasy, as he goes from almost unstartable with Joe Fagnano to a fringe WR1 with Brissett. This is likely a boost to Derrick Henry but I still have my concerns on a team that may struggle to score and often be playing from behind.
Bhayshul Tuten (ankle/foot) is trending toward a game-time call for Thursday, with coach Liam Coen saying he is feeling better but likely to carry a questionable tag after sitting out the first two practice reports. Chris Rodriguez Jr. is nursing a hand injury of his own but would lead the backfield if Tuten cannot go.
My take: the good news is it’s a Thursday night game so we won’t have to make any guesses on other lineup spots. If Tuten is active, he’s a high end RB2 on the week. If not, Chris Rodriguez becomes a low-end RB2 play as a double-digit favorite.
Breece Hall (quad) is expected back in Week 9 after sitting out against the Raiders, per Ian Rapoport. Braelon Allen carried the load in his absence and finished as a top-five back over the last month, so this looks more like a committee than a clean handoff back to Hall.
My take: people expecting Breece Hall to regain his workhorse role are likely to be disappointed. My take is we see closer to an even split given the strong performance Braelon Allen displayed in Hall’s absence.
Elsewhere around Wednesday's reports: Christian McCaffrey (hamstring) came out of the bye on track to play and looks like only a mild strain, Christian Watson (ribs) could suit up for Green Bay but carries early-exit risk, Jake Ferguson (ankle) is a real question for Dallas, and Emeka Egbuka (foot) could return for Tampa Bay.
