📝 Week 2 Key Takeaways
Week 2 brought a gut-punch in Dallas, where Jayden Daniels dislocated his elbow, Caleb Williams got carted off in Chicago, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba dropped a three-touchdown masterpiece in the desert. Here's the fantasy fallout for every team that played Sunday.
WAS - Jayden Daniels dislocated his left elbow on a bang-bang play before halftime and was carted off, and Marcus Mariota ran the rest of a 37-20 loss. Early thoughts are a likely dislocation of the same elbow Daniels hurt in 2025, treatable without surgery but with high recurrence risk, which means Daniels may opt for surgery that would end his season. Stefon Diggs (5-47, 2 TD) was the lone bright spot and takes a QB downgrade with Mariota under center.
DAL - Dak Prescott carved up Washington (26-31, 279, 4 TD) and CeeDee Lamb went 8-153-2, while tight end Jake Ferguson quietly stacked two scores. This offense is humming and every skill piece is startable.
CHI - Caleb Williams was carted off with a hamstring on a non-contact play, though appears to be only a strain which could mean anywhere from missing a game or two to half the season. Rome Odunze got healthier and ate into Luther Burden's snaps, while Colston Loveland continued to struggle out the gate.
MIN - Aaron Jones handled 80.8% of the snaps with Jordan Mason (thumb) on IR and is a clear must-start, racking up that usage even while leaving with a knee scare but returning. Carson Wentz started for the concussed Kyler Murray and let the defense carry a 9-3 grind but sounds like Murray should be back next week.
SEA - Jaxon Smith-Njigba torched Arizona for 9-155-3 with backup Drew Lock throwing, including an 82-yard score, in a 31-7 rout. Emanuel Wilson (20-92) led a committee backfield with Sam Darnold still out.
ARI - The Cardinals got run out of their own building as they couldn’t even run or pass for 100 yards. McBride got a TD but no one else put up anything fantasy worthy.
NE - TreVeyon Henderson stole the show in his return from an ankle injury with 16 carries for 76 yards and a score, though Rhamondre Stevenson kept the third-down role despite a fumble. Romeo Doubs (3-96) led the receivers with A.J. Brown on IR and looks like the lead wideout for now.
PIT - Rico Dowdle exited with a toe injury and Jaylen Warren played a career-high 50 snaps, making Warren a must-start next week if Dowdle can't go. Rookie Germie Bernard (4-35) led the team in receiving with Michael Pittman Jr. (foot) out, a passing game to avoid in a 20-3 loss. Better days ahead for DK Metcalf but the first two weeks have not looked good.
CAR - Chuba Hubbard is a locked-in must-start after Jonathon Brooks (groin) left in a 34-3 blowout, and Darren Waller found the end zone twice as his route share jumped to 56%. Waller is the priority waiver add if this red zone usage holds.
ATL - Bijan Robinson was again the entire offense, and Cooper Rush started with Tua and Michael Penix Jr. still banged up, though optimism is growing that one returns Thursday. Kyle Pitts (1-15) is stuck in a snap rotation and hard to trust. This team is desperate for competent QB play.
NO - Alvin Kamara returned and touched the ball on 75% of his snaps, an unsustainable rate that screams sell-high in a rotational role. Juwan Johnson's route share cratered to 59% in a three-tight-end committee, another sell-high before Oscar Delp grows into it.
BAL - Rashod Bateman (7-88, 1 TD) was the clear beneficiary with Zay Flowers (hamstring) out and Ja'Kobi Lane (wrist) on IR, and he is worth a hold until Flowers is back. Baltimore still fell 24-17 as the depleted receiver room showed.
CIN - Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins stay every-week must-starts in a 20-6 win, while Andrei Iosivas' 11-personnel snap share slid to a career-low 78%. If Chase or Higgins ever misses, rookie Colbie Young may be the pickup over Iosivas.
HOU - Dalton Schultz exploded for 12-140 with Nico Collins (hamstring) out and C.J. Stroud throwing 55 times, but that is a sell-high in the worst-case script. Woody Marks outtouched David Montgomery 8 rushes to 6 and 5 receptions to 2, showing the Montgomery may be a game script dependent back relying on TDs to score fantasy points.
GB - Kaleb Johnson led the team in carries and yards per carry in an ugly three-back committee and is the clear waiver target with Josh Jacobs still on the exempt list. Jayden Reed left on a stretcher with a neck injury; if he is out, targets funnel to Christian Watson, Matthew Golden, and buy-low TE Tucker Kraft (98% snaps) in an OT win.
NYJ - The Jets couldn’t advance to 2-0 but they displayed competence in a 20-17 OT loss to Green Bay. All three Jets receivers caught at least five passes in a 20-17 OT loss and Breece Hall looked good despite a Braelon Allen TD vulture.
CLE - Deshaun Wastson likely earned himself another start or two as the Browns go on the road to upset the Bucs. Denzel Boston goes back-to-back with big TDs as they struggle to get anything going on the ground (23 carries for 44 yards).
TB - Bucky Irving commanded the backfield with 17 carries and a 73% early-down snap rate and is a locked-in must-start. Emeka Egbuka, Chris Godwin, and rookie Ted Hurst all held 80%-plus of 11 personnel in a 23-19 loss.
PHI - Saquon Barkley left with a stinger and barely played the second half, making Tank Bigsby (13-33, TD) the clear handcuff if Saquon misses time. Dallas Goedert (knee) also exited, pushing Johnny Mundt into the short-term streamer role.
TEN - Tyjae Spears got hurt mid-game but still out-gained Tony Pollard on fewer touches, and rookie Nicholas Singleton started a rotation after sitting Week 1. This backfield is trending toward a 50-50 mess in a 24-20 loss.
SF - San Francisco rolled 35-13 behind a get-right offense, with Mike Evans the focal point of the passing game. A top-tier streaming defense as well. And CMC delighted fantasy owners by continuing to dominate the high value touches, going 4-43 in the air and scoring two touchdowns.
MIA - Miami sputtered to another dud, and outside De'Von Achane there is little to trust in this offense. Two weeks in, the Dolphins can't string together enough drives to feed anyone else.
DEN - Rookie Jonah Coleman scored the go-ahead fourth-quarter touchdown and profiles as a real add with RJ Harvey (hamstring) sidelined, keying a 20-13 comeback. Denver leaned on the ground game to climb out of a 10-point hole.
JAX - Jacksonville blew a 10-point third-quarter lead, and Bhayshul Tuten (goal-line TD) remains the lead back but couldn't close it out. Quiet second half from Trevor Lawrence and the passing game in a 20-13 loss.
LV - Ashton Jeanty powered a 26-14 win and stays a weekly must-start as the engine of this offense. The Raiders controlled the game on the ground. Look for Brock Bowers to return next week.
LAC - The Chargers offense stayed quiet in a 26-14 loss with Ladd McConkey (ribs) banged up. Another brutal fantasy day for a unit that can't get going.
KC - The Chiefs survived 33-30 in overtime on a Harrison Butker walk-off field goal, and Kenneth Walker III (117 rush yards) keeps validating his lead-back role in a 2-0 start. Travis Kelce turned back the clock with 9 catches for 101 yards and a score, a reminder he is still a weekly TE1.
IND - Daniel Jones (210 yards, 1 TD, 1 INT) pushed the Chiefs to and overtime loss, and Jonathan Taylor (92 yards, 2 TD) stayed matchup-proof on volume and goal-line work. Alec Pierce injured his heel but x-rays are negative so hopefully time missed will be minimal.
Many of these stats come from Nathan Jahnke's PFF Fantasy Football Recap, which you can view here.
⚕️ Injury Corner w/ Deepak Chona
Jayden Daniels (WAS): the elbow can be treated with or without surgery; without it, roughly a 4-week absence with HIGH re-injury risk, and surgery would likely mean his season is over.
Caleb Williams (CHI): reports point to a mild hamstring, avg 2-3 wks, rushing attempts do dip on return, MRI Monday, and he likely avoids IR.
Brock Bowers (LV): lean Wk 3 return and a must-start in all formats, with the rapid rise back to pre-injury production (under 2 wks) typically seen.
Saquon Barkley (PHI): MRI Monday, but the stinger diagnosis carries no lingering impact by Wk 3, and the MRI is just to confirm no damage.
Zay Flowers (BAL): trending to return Wk 3 with no stat dip projected, though re-injury risk is the concern.
Nico Collins (HOU): avg ~2 wks, injured midweek, so the data favors sitting Wk 3 and returning Wk 4 without a production hit; re-injury risk ~15%.
Puka Nacua (LAR): more than 75% who miss two straight practices to end the week would sit, and if active he carries a mild rise in re-injury risk.
Sam Darnold (SEA): likely a Wk 3-5 return with Wk 4 most likely, and expect a dip in mobility.
Ladd McConkey (LAC): just 3 targets Sunday; the target dip typically lasts ~3 games, ramping back to baseline by Wk 5.
DJ Moore (BUF): only 1 in 4 WRs would play on normal rest, but the 3 extra days help; expect a 2-4 wk production dip, and two limited practices would favor playing Wk 3.
Mike Evans (SF): left with a hip but the game was out of hand, so suspect he plays Wk 3.
JK Dobbins (DEN): hamstring, avg ~2 wks, MRI Monday for severity; most would miss Wk 3, and if active RBs see a dip in touches.
Jayden Reed (GB): reports are reassuring so far, very likely out Wk 3, with a suspected 2-3 wk absence barring structural spine damage.
Michael Penix Jr. (ATL): lean Wk 3-4 return, 3 full practices going into Wk 2, no passing dip seen post-ACL; buy low on Drake London.
Alec Pierce (IND): ruled out, with high concern for a multi-week absence given the aggravation of his offseason surgical injury.
Jadarian Price (SEA): chest contusion, X-ray negative; most RBs would play Wk 3 but with a dip in touches.
Demarcus Robinson (SF): reported a high-ankle, though the video suggests low severity, avg 2-3 wks.
