Kyler Murray is in the concussion protocol after his Vikings debut ended in the first quarter of Sunday’s win over Green Bay, though Kevin O’Connell said Monday that Murray "came in feeling pretty good" and the team will go day to day.
My take: concussions average roughly eight days, so the likeliest path is Murray sitting Week 2. That makes Carson Wentz, who threw three TDs in relief, a sneaky superflex streamer.

Zay Flowers dodged a worst-case scenario, with Ian Rapoport reporting Monday the hamstring "is not considered serious," though he’ll take an MRI and is day to day. Teammate Ja’Kobi Lane wasn’t as fortunate, with a fractured wrist expected to sideline him multiple weeks.
My take: even a limited Flowers plus a shelved Lane pushes Rashod Bateman into worth owning

Dylan Sampson hurt his knee Sunday, thinning Cleveland’s backfield behind Quinshon Judkins.
My take: Raheim Sanders is the clear handcuff and change-of-pace back for Cleveland but how important that is fully depends on when they bench Watson and what the offense looks like afterwards

Alvin Kamara (knee) is trending back for Week 2 and Brock Bowers (meniscus) could return as soon as this week, two comebacks that cap how much money in waivers you should be spending on their backups.

Week 1 is often the best waiver wire opportunity where even though majority of adds end up being worthless, it’s often where a couple of the top pick-ups are grabbed. Don’t completely throw out our pre-season priors but worth considering what players are showing signs of a breakout.

Running Backs

Kaelon Black (SF) is the must-add of the week, out-touching Christian McCaffrey on Sunday with 15 touches for 70 yards while playing 43.8% of the snaps. He’s likely the most valuable handcuff in football right now. FAAB: 10-15%.

Emmett Johnson (KC) looked great in his rookie debut, showing he’s earned the coaching staff’s trust with his use all across the field. Think we’ve seen enough to say he’s likely one of the more valuable handcuffs in the league. FAAB: 5-8%.

Braelon Allen (NYJ) played 40.3% of the Jets’ snaps and ran for 40 yards on 10 carries with a TD wiped out by penalty, cementing himself as the Breece Hall handcuff with standalone upside. FAAB: 5-8%.

Kendre Miller (NO) scored the Saints’ first TD on nine carries for 30 yards and split the backfield nearly evenly with Travis Etienne, but he played just 26 of New Orleans’ 90 snaps and Kamara is due back. A deep-league dart, not a priority. FAAB: 3-5%.

Raheim Sanders (CLE) becomes the Judkins handcuff with Sampson banged up, and he already flashed hands with three catches for 25 yards. FAAB: 3-5%.

Wide Receivers

Jalen Coker (CAR) led Carolina in everything, catching eight of nine targets for 138 yards and two TDs. If he’s somehow floating in your league, grab him. FAAB: 10-15%.

Devaughn Vele (NO) ran a route on 92% of Tyler Shough’s dropbacks and turned nine targets into seven catches for 69 yards and a score in a pass-happy attack that ran 90 snaps. FAAB: 5-8%.

Rashod Bateman (BAL) is has a clear opportunity ahead of him: with Flowers dinged and Lane out for weeks, he’s the Ravens’ healthiest perimeter option in a Lamar Jackson offense. FAAB: 4-6%.

Denzel Boston (CLE) hauled in a 46-yard TD and led Browns receivers in snaps as a rookie. I’m a fan of the talent so this isn’t just overreacting to one touchdown. FAAB: 4-6%.

Caleb Douglas (MIA) led the Dolphins in his NFL debut with five catches for 94 yards on seven targets while running 86.5% of the routes. FAAB: 3-5%.

Dontayvion Wicks (PHI) turned a light workload into a 64-yard grab and a nine-yard TD, playing nearly every snap opposite DeVonta Smith. FAAB: 3-5%.

Tight Ends

T.J. Hockenson (MIN) was the clear No. 2 behind Justin Jefferson and found the end zone Sunday; if he leaked to waivers, he’s the best TE available. FAAB: 5-8%.

Mike Gesicki (CIN) led Cincinnati with five catches for 78 yards and a TD on seven targets, but he ran routes on just 21 of 64 snaps, so treat him as a matchup streamer rather than a set-and-forget. FAAB: 2-4%.

Michael Mayer (LV) led the Raiders in targets (six) Sunday, but cap the bid since Bowers will be back soon. FAAB: 1-2%.

Quarterbacks

Tyler Shough (NO) will be the most-added QB after throwing for 410 yards and three scores on 56 attempts, with New Orleans happy to let him sling it. FAAB: 5-10%.

Bryce Young (CAR) finished as a top-three fantasy QB in Week 1, throwing for 361 and three TDs and adding a rushing score. However, I think we’ll look back on this game and account the performance to playing Chicago. FAAB: 3-6%.
