📝 Week 4 Key Takeaways

Week 4's slate was defined by injuries at the top of lineups, from Saquon Barkley's first-quarter hamstring exit to Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins both leaving banged up in Cincinnati, all while the Patriots stunned Buffalo and CeeDee Lamb went for 17-189 in a Dallas shootout. Here is the team-by-team fantasy recap.

DAL - CeeDee Lamb overwhelmed Houston for 17-189-1 on a massive target share, and Javonte Williams scored three rushing touchdowns, though worth watching he only played a season-low 65% of the early-down snaps.

HOU - Nico Collins returned from the hamstring to go 7-118-2, and with him back the Texans rotated their receivers far less, a sign they have settled on their top three. C.J. Stroud threw for 347, but David Montgomery kept fading (10-24) with Woody Marks getting a short TD.

NE - Drake Maye authored the upset of the week, throwing for 269 and three touchdowns plus 54 rushing yards to stun Buffalo. One week after a career low, he has shown signs of life that will tempt you into starting him each week.

BUF - Josh Allen was efficient (253, 1 TD, 1 INT), James Cook ran for 75 and a score, and Keon Coleman led the air game at 6-116-1, but the Bills could not finish at home.

CHI - Kyle Monangai hijacked the backfield for 30-146-2 after D'Andre Swift fumbled and sat the final three drives. Colston Loveland led the offense with 9 targets, going 6 for 57.

NYJ - With Breece Hall out (quad), Braelon Allen (14-59) led a backfield going nowhere in a 23-12 dud. Geno Smith threw just 15 times, Garrett Wilson managed 3-27, and rookie TE Kenyon Sadiq's snap share ticked up even without a catch. A day to forget for the Jets offense.

LAR - Puka Nacua returned with no snap limit and dominated (9-125), and Kyren Williams took over the backfield at an 83.3% snap share as the Rams move off their committee. Kyren led the team with 13 targets, going 10-67 with 80 rushing yards and 2 TDs.

PHI - A brutal day: Saquon Barkley left in the first quarter with a hamstring injury and never returned, Jalen Hurts threw for just 93 yards, and with DeVonta Smith (hamstring, could miss multiple weeks) out, rookie Darius Cooper (3-33-2) was the lone spark.

NYG - Malik Nabers bounced back for 6-112-1 with Jameis Winston firing three touchdowns in place of the injured Jaxson Dart, while Cam Skattebo stayed the feature back and Tyrone Tracy Jr. carved out a season-high 12 snaps on third downs.

ARI - Jacoby Brissett's three interceptions sank Arizona, and even as Marvin Harrison Jr. scored his first touchdown of the year, he had a season-low snap rate for him as he was taken off the field for 13 personnel. Jeremiyah Love (14-63) keeps earning early-down volume but lost red zone work to Allgeier.

BAL - Lamar Jackson was surgical (15-20, 222, 2 TD) in the first half but didn’t play in the second due to an ankle injury. Zay Flowers returned to full health and torched Tennessee for 8-118-1, and Derrick Henry added a score as Baltimore's receiver rotation keeps shifting.

TEN - Rookie Carnell Tate broke out with 9-145 and Tony Pollard found the end zone, but Cam Ward (222, 1 TD, 1 INT) and 18 points were not enough. The Titans also started rotating their tight ends, cutting into Gunnar Helm.

JAX - Bhayshul Tuten stayed the lead back (17-73) with I believe multiple TDs called back by penalties, Brenton Strange posted 7-95, and Brian Thomas Jr.'s snap share jumped to a season-high 62.3% as Trevor Lawrence (18-23, 227) was ruthlessly efficient.

CIN - Joe Burrow threw for 428, but two interceptions and the injury bug doomed the Bengals: Ja'Marr Chase exited with a concussion and Tee Higgins with a leg injury. Chase Brown set a career high with 11 catches (71 yards) even as he managed just 10 on the ground.

IND - Jonathan Taylor bounced back with 20-95-2, carrying a Colts offense that played shorthanded at receiver (Keenan Allen among those out) with Daniel Jones quiet (143 yards) in a 30-13 win in London.

WSH - Down Jayden Daniels, Terry McLaurin and Rachaad White (shoulder), and losing Marcus Mariots in-game, Washington sputtered to 13 points. Austin Ekeler, signed days earlier, led the backfield, Jacory Croskey-Merritt handled early downs, and the passing game got almost nothing with Jayden Daniels still out. Thinking we see Daniels back next week.

GB - A banged-up backfield turned into a Kaleb Johnson-led committee after Chris Brooks left early with a leg injury, but Jordan Love (197, 2 TD) and a Tucker Kraft touchdown (6-42) carried an ugly 17-14 win over Tampa Bay.

TB - Baker Mayfield's thumb kept him out and is expected to cost him time, leaving rookie Jalon Daniels to struggle (148 yards, two picks) as the Bucs fell to 0-4 with Bucky Irving (16-61) bottled up. Also not great Sean Tucker stole short yardage work.

MIA - De'Von Achane is done for the season, and the Dolphins managed just 10 points without him. Ollie Gordon II (9-100-1) flashed as the early lead back, but there was little else to like.

MIN - With Justin Jefferson still out, Minnesota ran back its Week 3 plan and T.J. Hockenson feasted, leading the team at 13-119. Kyler Murray managed the game (247) and Aaron Jones carried 20 times for 94.

KC - Kenneth Walker III looked like a league-winner at 22-177-2, but the Chiefs' receiver room took hits: neither Rashee Rice nor Tyquan Thornton (5-111-2) could finish the game. Mahomes was efficient (225, 2 TD) as KC moved to 4-0.

LV - Brock Bowers (6-86-1) and Michael Mayer (8-82) both feasted at tight end, Kirk Cousins threw for 365, and Ashton Jeanty chipped in 21 touches, but Vegas fell to 3-1.

LAC - The Chargers leaned on a three-man backfield, with Keaton Mitchell edging Omarion Hampton and Kimani Vidal in snaps, and Ladd McConkey's foot injury limited him to 24 snaps. Justin Herbert threw two picks in a sluggish 189-yard day.

SEA - Emanuel Wilson handled the lead-back role for now (21-81-1) with Jadarian Price on IR, Sam Darnold threw two touchdowns, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba proved to be human as he was held to 5-76.

DEN - The offense stalled at 14 points, Bo Nix threw for just 214, and second-year wideout Pat Bryant was carted off with a leg injury late in the third. RJ Harvey's 10 catches were the lone PPR bright spot, while J.K. Dobbins stayed quiet (11-40).

SF - Brock Purdy threw two touchdowns and Christian McCaffrey found the end zone, but the 49ers are down to the bones at receiver, with nearly their entire projected July wideout room on IR or banged up. Mike Evans (5-76) and George Kittle (4-70-1) led the way.

⚕️ Injury Corner w/ Deepak Chona

Ja'Marr Chase (CIN): Concussion, averaging about eight days. Most miss one game and return the next week without a dip, and roughly a third could be back for Week 5.

Justin Jefferson (MIN): Mild high ankle, averaging about two weeks. Leans toward a Week 5 return, and he is a must-start whenever he is active despite a moderate production dip.

Saquon Barkley (PHI): Hamstring that looked at least moderate on video, averaging two to three weeks. MRI Monday, with re-injury the biggest concern.

Lamar Jackson (BAL): Mild high ankle on video, averaging about two weeks. Most would miss at least one week, and re-injury is a concern.

Malik Nabers (NYG): Suspected early shoulder re-aggravation, though he returned and played well. Season-long risk is high enough to consider selling high.

DeVonta Smith (PHI): Hamstring re-aggravation of a preseason injury, averaging three to five weeks, with the data leaning toward a Week 6 or 7 return.

Rashee Rice (KC): Hamstring, averaging two to three weeks. MRI Monday, with video suggesting at least moderate severity.

Tee Higgins (CIN): Groin, averaging one to two weeks. His attempt to return suggests it may be on the milder side.

Ladd McConkey (LAC): Re-aggravated foot and ruled out, and with an existing rib fracture on top of it, he is at high risk to miss Week 5.

DJ Moore (BUF): Re-aggravated AC joint. A Week 5 return is possible, but most would miss at least a week, with Week 6 or 7 more likely.

Mike Evans (SF): Gutted out a game a week after a rib fracture and was visibly in pain, with the data favoring a rise over Weeks 5 through 7.

Tyquan Thornton (KC): Suspected ankle fracture and dislocation, with a timeline around six months.
