Major WR Impacts to Begin Season

Survivor Contest Anyone?

🏆️ FFin60 Survivor & One-and-Done Contests

Compete against me and other FFin60 readers in two season long contests sponsored by our friends at Splash Sports! If we get enough people to play, I’ll throw in some special prizes specifically for all of you.

  • Survivor: pick one team each week to win its game, and if your team wins, you advance to the next week (can only pick each team once)

  • One-and-Done: each week you’ll select five players of any position to receive their fantasy points (can only use each player once), most points at end of season wins

📝 News & Notes

  • Jalen Coker placed on IR, likely out 4-6 games [Adam Schefter]

My take: Things were looking great for Coker (and his Cokehead fans) with Thielen being traded and GM Dan Morgan telling reporters Coker will start in the slot for the team. Coker went from a strong late-round pick to now mostly undraftable given the missed time and risk of losing his expected role once healthy. They signed Hunter Renfrow but the major winners here are rookie Tetairoa McMillan and Xavier Legette (with an increased opportunity for Ja’Tavion Sanders to break out).

  • Jauan Jennings contract dispute still unresolved

My take: This remains one of the biggest question marks heading into the final week of drafting. Rumors are circulating that we may see a holdout extending into the season as Jennings is looking for $20M a year and the 49ers are not close to offering that number. I’m optimistic this eventually gets resolved but think we should assume a strong likelihood of Jennings missing multiple games. The next few days should be very telling.

❓️FFin60 Mailbag

Q: What is the optimal auction strategy this year for home leagues?

A: I am usually preferential to stars and scrubs builds as the elite talent is the hardest to replicate with quantity and I trust my ability to find high-upside late round players and win the waiver wire throughout the year. This year, while I still want a version of stars and scrubs, I’d be looking to lock in a top 4 QB (Jackson, Allen, Daniels, or Hurts), top 3 TE (Bowers, McBride, or Kittle), and two of the RBs in the RB 8-11 range (Brown, Irving, Taylor, Jacobs). That should cost around $120 of a $200 budget and allow you to focus the rest of the draft on values at WR and cheap upside RBs.

If you have any mailbag questions of your own you would like to be answered, just reply to this email or DM me at @JustinHerzig and I’ll try to get to it in a future newsletter.

📊 Poll of the Day

Yesterday’s poll: Which rookie RB would you most want to own in Dynasty?

I’d personally rank them Judkins, Tuten, Skattebo, Blue, Sampson but don’t blame anyone for ranking Tuten first. No question a very strong RB class.
