📝 News & Notes
Tyreek Hill tears multiple ligaments including ACL, will miss rest of season [no link to the video here as knees should not bend like that]
My take: Jaylen Waddle and DeVon Achane will likely see increased target shares going forward. Malik Washington is most likely to be utilized by Miami to replace as much of Tyreek’s production as they can. And Darren Waller should see an increased role in the offense if he can stay healthy.Bucky Irving underwent an MRI for an ankle injury from Sunday’s game [Pewter Report]
My take: Rachaad White becomes a speculative add until we learn the results of the MRI. Sean Tucker also a player to keep an eye on.Saints TEs Taysom Hill and Foster Moreau are set to return to practice this week [Mike Triplett]
My take: What impact this has on Juwan Johnson or the RBs is yet to be seen. My guess is less impactful than past years but something to monitor.Joe Mixon not returning anytime soon, “DeMeco Ryans specifically indicated that Joe Mixon is not ready to return at this time. Per sources, it will be much longer, if at all, for Mixon to get back on the field this season” [Aaron Wilson]
My take: Further support for what we have been assuming since summer. Wheels up for Woody Marks 🚀
💰️ Waiver Wire Report
We have 4 teams on bye this week: ATL, CHI, GB, PIT. The top adds will predominantly be players that can help both short and long-term, but I’ll also include players who can help with spot starts as needed for injuries or byes.
QB
NYG Jaxson Dart ($1 - $2): Not a long term option, particularly with the loss of Nabers, but has a solid rushing floor and a friendly match-up week 5 @NO
Players you can drop: Trevor Lawrence, CJ Stroud, Tua Tagovailoa
RB
HOU Woody Marks ($50 - $60): Marks has officially taken over the backfield and there’s minimal reason to think he gives it up. The Texans aren’t great but this role is valuable given their team tendencies and usage of Marks in the passing game.
NO Kendre Miller ($10 - $15): This might be a slight overpay but I think this is the time to grab Miller. His role continues to increase and it wouldn’t be surprising if Kamara is traded and Miller becomes a top 20 RB.
TB Rachaad White ($5 - $10): Bucky Irving is getting an MRI on his ankle which opens the door for Rachaad White, who can take the primary pass catching role and share the rushes with Sean Tucker. $5 - $10 is if the results of the MRI are still unknown. If we hear Irving will be out an extended period of time, this could go up to as high as $30 - $75 depending upon the length.
PIT Kenneth Gainwell ($3 - $5): I think the most likely scenarion is Jaylen Warren regains his primary RB role but there is a world where either Warren’s injury is more serious than expected, he reinjures it, or Gainwell earns more of a role. All worth a low price pick-up.
TB Sean Tucker ($1): Speculative add if you have the extra roster spot. Unclear what role he’d have if Bucky Irving missed time but he did score 32.7 half ppr points last year when Rachaad White missed a game.
Players you can drop: Tyrone Tracy, Joe Mixon, Nick Chubb
WR
GB Romeo Doubs ($5 - $8): With Jayden Reed out, Roubs has become Jordan Love’s favorite target. He won’t hit every week but he’ll be one of the best projectable WRs you can still add for the rest of the season.
NE Malik Washington ($3 - $5): With Tyreek Hill’s injury, Malik Washington will likely become the #2 WR alongside Waddle. Washington has the speed and YAC ability Miami may look for to replace Tyreek’s production.
NYG Darius Slayton ($3 - $5) and NYG Wan’Dale Robinson ($3 - $5): Malik Nabers’ injury has opened the door for Slayton and Robinson to see increased targets but there is macro offensive risk with rookie Jaxson Dart at the helm. Think they’re worthwhile flyers but not players I’d go crazy for adding.
Players you can drop: Malik Nabers, Cedric Tillman, Tyquan Thornton
TE
MIA Darren Waller ($7 - $10): Waller saw his first action last night and made an immediate impact with two touchdowns. Combine that with Tyreek Hill out for the season and there is a wide range of possible outcomes for how this season could go for Waller. A fun mystery box.
JAX Brenton Strange ($2 - $4): Strange has back-to-back games with 7 targets, cementing himself as a favorite target of Lawrence.
BAL Isaiah Likely ($1 - $2): Didn’t do much in his first start back but the underlying snaps and routes were encouraging.
Players you can drop: Colston Loveland, Evan Engram
Yesterday’s poll: Who wins the trade?
Team A receives: Brock Bowers & Rashee Rice
Team B receives: George Kittle & Ja'Marr Chase
My vote: After what we saw out of Jake Browning last night, this trade appears to be a clear win for Team A. But even before that game, I agree with the crowd that Team A wins by a little, with that accounting for me believing Bowers will return to elite TE form as he gets healthier and Rashee Rice immediately vaulting into being a top 12 WR. That said, I think there is opportunity for both Kittle and Chase to surpass their current expectations. With how unhealthy the 49ers are, when Kittle returns, he could see an increased role and target share. As for Ja’Marr Chase, the expectations for him and Jake Browning are extremely low but there is substantial room to rise. Either Browning needs to significantly improve in a short period of time or the Bengals may be looking at the trade market (Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousins) to help them tread water until Burrow is back.
