THE 5 MOST INFLUENTIAL MOVES OF FREE AGENCY FOR FANTASY
1. Kyler Murray to the Minnesota Vikings
This is the biggest fantasy domino of the entire offseason, and I don't think it's particularly close. Justin Jefferson has been waiting for a competent quarterback for two years. Now he gets a former MVP on a prove-it deal in one of the most pass-friendly systems in the league under Kevin O'Connell. Murray is motivated. Jefferson is healthy. The floor on Jefferson just jumped significantly and he's back in the conversation for overall WR1 if this connection clicks. Murray's rushing upside also opens up the full playbook in a way JJ McCarthy simply couldn't. Strong boost to the entire offense with this signing.
2. Mike Evans to the San Francisco 49ers
Evans takes a team-friendly 3 years, $42.4M deal as he walks into a Shanahan offense as the likely WR1 alongside Ricky Pearsall, giving Purdy a legitimate boundary receiver for the first time in years. Health is the only real question after missing most of 2025 with a broken collarbone. If he's right, he's a WR3 with upside. But the bigger fantasy story might actually be Tampa. Evans was the gravitational center of that offense for 12 years, drawing the top corner every week and creating space for everyone underneath. That target share is now up for grabs. Cade Otton re-signed for 3 years, $30M and figures to see more volume. Jalen McMillan is a name to circle. Egbuka could become the star and Godwin is only a year removed from an elite PPG average. The redistribution in Tampa could create some legitimate sleeper value heading into the draft.
3. Kenneth Walker III to the Kansas City Chiefs
The Super Bowl MVP goes to Patrick Mahomes. You can't say that sentence and then not be excited for fantasy purposes. Walker had workload concerns in Seattle but now lands in a situation where he's the clear top back behind the greatest quarterback of his generation. Eric Bieniemy is back as OC. This offense can make any skill player relevant, but an explosive backfield weapon with Walker's traits is exactly what Mahomes exploits. He's a borderline RB1 with week-winning upside that I expect to be a round 2 pick by summer.
4. Travis Etienne to the New Orleans Saints
Etienne ran for over 1,100 yards last year in Jacksonville and now gets a clean start with a new team that desperately needs playmakers. If the Saints commit to him as the featured back, and everything we know about Sean Payton-style offenses suggests they will, you're looking at a top-12 RB. The buy window is right now before the hype catches up to the situation. He's being treated like a fringe RB2 in early best ball ADPs and that feels like a mistake. His departure also opens the door for Bhayshul Tuten to take over the Jacksonville backfield, though heβll be competing with new joiner Chris Rodriguez Jr.
5. Alec Pierce Re-signs with the Colts (and Pittman Goes to Pittsburgh)
This is a two-for-one. Pierce staying in Indy on four years and $114M is a massive statement. He led the league in yards per reception the last two seasons and now gets Daniel Jones back and full WR1 opportunity without Pittman stealing targets. On the other side, Pittman lands in Pittsburgh alongside DK Metcalf, where he profiles as a higher volume option for Aaron Rodgers.
