PUP List Surprises + a Sleeper TE You Haven’t Drafted Yet
And Maybe Another TE as Well?
📝 News & Notes
Brandon Aiyuk and Ricky Pearsall both begin camp on PUP list [Adam Schefter]
My take: This was the expectation for Aiyuk but a bit of a surprise for Pearsall after tweaking his hamstring in May. Still a lot of time to get healthy but lingering soft tissue injuries worry me. I’m bullish on this entire offense but the key is just figuring out which guys will be out there between injuries and contract concerns.
Noah Fant released by Seahawks, opening the door for 2nd round rookie Elijah Arroyo [Mike Garafolo]
My take: This is a move we had been watching all summer as the Seahawks save ~$9M after spending a 2nd round pick on Arroyo. It happening now increases likelihood the Seahawks were happy enough with what they saw in him to feel comfortable moving on from Fant. Arroyo still has to compete with 2nd year AJ Barner but becomes a viable late-round TE in best ball (only drafted ~22% of the time on UD) and dynasty/keeper target.
Stefon Diggs avoids PUP to start season, hinting towards a positive recovery from torn ACL [Mike Reiss]
My take: I’m still hesitant about a 31 year old WR coming off an ACL injury but this news is promising for him being ready week 1. I am comfortable accepting the downside risk because he is likely the #1 option for an ascending offense and QB.
DEEP SLEEPER: Chargers rookie TE Oronde Gadsden II continues to flash in practice [chargers.com]
My take: It’s not easy for a 5th round rookie TE to see the field, not to mention with two veterans (Will Dissly and Tyler Conklin) ahead of him, but there is a steady drumbeat for Gadsden. He wasn’t an exemplary prospect but if the Chargers like him and he can form a connection with Justin Herbert, he could quite the sleeper. Not touching in redraft but worth stashing in Dynasty and mixing in the 20th round of best ball.
📊 Poll of the Day
Friday I asked which 2nd round rookie WR will have the best 2025 season and more than half of you chose Jayden Higgins. Burden surpassing Harris though was a bit of an upset compared to current ADP but I agree with the sentiment and if healthy, would be comfortable even pushing him above Higgins.
