Rookie RBs Running with the Ones
And a Royal Opportunity
📝 News & Notes
Xavier Worthy suffers concussion at practice [Ian Rapoport]
My take: With Marquise Brown, Xavier Worthy, and Skyy Moore all going to be missing practice time, I’ll be keeping an eye on fourth-round rookie Jalen Royals. Camp reports have been positive and if he can outplay Juju Smith-Schuster, he could find himself with a starting role during Rashee Rice’s expected suspension.
Jaydon Blue, Jarquez Hunter, and Brashard Smith all mid/late round RBs getting run with the ones
My take: We need to be careful not to overreact to who is running with the starters, particularly this early in camp. Granted it’s always better to see them running with the ones than not, but quite simply, context matters. The Hunter and Smith news give me hope they can be gameday actives which is the first step to a potential in-season breakout. Jaydon Blue is a different story as when you combine his positive practice reports with his explosive skill set, vs the absence of both for the RBs ahead of him, and Blue could become a league winner.
Zach Moss released by Bengals [Adam Schefter]
My take: If you have been paying attention to The Coachspeak Index, you’ll have seen the writing on the wall all summer. I say this because Moss’ release or at the least minimal role has been the expectation. Any major boost to Chase Brown or Tahj Brooks is likely double counting what was already accounted for in projections. I am still actively buying both but don’t want to chase them if their ADPs rocket.
Calvin Ridley, Zay Flowers, Michael Pittman, and Juwan Johnson all missed or left practice early due to a minor injury. Will continue to monitor before overreacting.
🤝 Partnerships
My goal with FFin60 is to always keep this a free daily newsletter. To make this happen I’ll be partnering with a few of my favorite companies in the industry. I would greatly appreciate if when I do, you could take a minute or two to check them out and see if they interest you. And if so, use the FFin60 referral links to sign up. Much thanks!!
The newest partnership is with FFPC, one of the OG fantasy football platforms that has also expanded into best ball. They have both a $35 and $125 tournament that are some of the softer contests out there given their non-best ball customer base. Sign up with FFin60 and you’ll get $25 off your first entry into either of those contests (or click here).
And if you haven’t yet checked out FastDraft, highly recommend it. Built in exposures, integrated icons to help with stacking, and quicker drafts for when you’re on the go. Promo code FFin60 gets new users a $50 deposit match. And everyone can enter the free contest supporting the Fantasy Cares charity.
📊 Poll of the Day
Yesterday’s poll: Who is your favorite late-round RB?
Personally I have not been drafting much Brashard Smith. It might be his minimal draft capital, the plethora of competition, or that the Chiefs seem to do this each year with a 7th round rookie RB. But I might need to reconsider that if Smith keeps getting positive camp reports.
The top RBs I’m currently targeting late are DJ Giddens, Jarquez Hunter, Tahj Brooks, and Woody Marks.
