📝 News & Notes
Amon-Ra St. Brown injured in yesterday’s game, Lions would be “lucky” if only sidelined a week or two [Detroit Lions]
My take: With the fantasy playoffs only two weeks away, this is rather concerning news for fantasy owners. The Lions are 7-5 and may need to win out to make the playoffs. If they lose vs Dallas in Week 14 or @LAR Week 15, the Lions could have minimal motivation to rush him back. With LaPorta already out, Jameson Williams looks to be the primary pass catcher but I’d expect a macro dip in the entire offense.
⚕️ Injury Corner with Deepak Chona
WAS Jayden Daniels - Elbow dislocation. Week 13 seems less than likely. Most players can return in-season. Performance projects at high level upon return +re-injury risk.
TB Baker Mayfield - AC joint. Low grade AC join sprains on a non-throwing shoulder typically wouldn’t cause extended absences. Players can often play thru w/ injection.
PIT Aaron Rodgers - Wrist fracture. Coach + player have said he plans to play. A fall onto the wrist could worsen it, but wouldn’t expect a performance hit.
HOU CJ Stroud - Concussion. Still has to clear protocol, but did return to practice last week, and majority of players would advance to clear within a week from that time point.
MIN JJ McCarthy - Concussion. Most players have been missing 1 week and returning the following. Data favors Week 14 as most likely
NO Alvin Kamara - Knee. Avg knee sprain takes 2 weeks. Limited info on severity other than the team saying he avoided major injury. Most commonly would return Wk 15.
LAC Omarion Hampton - Ankle. Able to practice now but has 3 weeks to get activated. Most would take the first week to practice to return Wk 14. Projecting gradual ramp up.
TB Bucky Irving - Shoulder, toe. Likely playing this week. But team has hinted at split workload to ramp up. No efficiency dip projected.
LV Ashton Jeanty - High ankle. Carrol said no limitations that he’s aware of yet, but they also haven’t practiced yet this week. Most players would miss at least 1 wk.
ARI Marvin Harrison - Appendix. Surgery generally takes 2-4 wks for most players. He’s missed 2, so data would favor Wk 13 return. Suspect mild dip until ~Wk 15.
ATL Drake London - PCL sprain. They’ve called him wk-to-wk, but most take at least 2 wks. Season in play, but 2 losses could change that and make them more conservative (ex Bowers / Pearsall)
WAS Terry McLaurin - Quad. Returned to practice in some capacity, but given the lengthy absence and lost season, it would be surprising to see this ramp up be rushed.
PIT DK Metcalf - Ankle. Tomlin suggested he will be limited at practice, but would still be able to play. Typically do see a dip in targets when active immediately.
JAX Brian Thomas - Ankle. He’s logged 2 weeks of limited practices, so would be a heavy outlier to not return Wk 13. Most WRs see a performance dip, which varies widely but averages ~20%.
NYJ Garrett Wilson - Knee. He’s eligible to return off IR Wk 15, and early reports suggest that would be the expected timeline. Tough to say it’s worth the risk of returning at all this season.
BUF Dalton Kincaid - Hamstring. Avg hamstring takes 2-3 weeks out, and he’s missed 2 already. Hasn’t yet returned to practice but would be uncommon to miss more than one more game.
MIA Darren Waller - Pectoral. Unclear timeline yet, but Miami typically has used 1 Wk to ramp up players and return them the following game (Wk 14) coming off IR.
