📝 News & Notes

Titans HC Brian Callahan fired after 1-5 start
My take: I did not expect to be spending any additional real estate on the Titans but here we are. Anything different than the status quo at least introduces the possibility of the team being better and players being fantasy relevant. But I’m not holding my breath.

The Steelers are seeking a trade for a WR [Schefter]
My take: The Steelers are 4-1 and -180 to win the division. It makes sense they’re pushing their chips into the middle and trying to make the most of this run. From a fantasy perspective, this would not be a fun landing spot for majority of WRs given the low-volume offense and lack of value in the #2 WR role.

Breece Hall posts on Instagram “Free 20.” [Connor Hughes]
My take: With the Jets winless and Breece Hall on the last year of his contract, it makes sense for the Jets to trade him so long as they receive more than they’d get from a compensatory pick. The Chargers would be the clear favorite but these types of trades often end up involving unexpected teams (i.e., a run-first team like the Colts or Packers looking for high quality depth).

⚕️Injury Updates with Deepak Chona

For a more comprehensive list of injury news, check out yesterday’s FFin60. Below are updates based on additional information learned since.

LAR Puka Nacua - Most low ankles = short term. Lean Wk 9 return. Data suggests mild dip in targets 1st game back

TB Emeka Egbuka - Avg = 2-3 wks. Wk 9 bye, so suspect Wk 10 target. No production hit typically seen. Moderate re-injury risk

NYJ Garrett Wilson - Reports say hyperextension + avoided serious injury. Suggests mild PCL. Avg = 2 wks. Most miss Wk 7

CLE David Njoku - Wk 7 TBD. Suspect he attempts to practice

💰️ Waiver Wire Report

QB
Likely taken but top priorities if available: Brock Purdy
Jaxson Dart ($5 - $8): Available in 68% of leagues, Jaxson Dart is a borderline QB1 after rushing for 50+ yards in each of his first three starts. His upside is still capped by the lack of receiving weapons but he provides a strong weekly base projection.
JJ McCarthy ($1 - $2): Nearing his return, JJ McCarthy is worth taking a flier on if you’re looking for a long-term improvement at the QB position
Players you can drop: Joe Burrow, Sam Darnold

RB
Likely taken but top priorities if available: Aaron Jones Sr., Trey Benson, Bhayshul Tuten, Tyler Allgeier
Kimani Vidal ($10 - $15): Vidal is likely the most popular waiver add this week, after rushing for 124 yards and catching a TD. If this week’s usage continues, he can be a RB2/flex option until Omarion Hampton returns. The risk is whether or not he maintains that role and if the rumors come to fruition and the Chargers trade for an established RB.
Michael Carter & Bam Knight ($2 - $4): We saw a pretty even backfield split in Week 6 making both considerations if available. I wouldn’t make either a top priority as the offense is still struggling, the volume will likely continue to be split, and Trey Benson will eventually be returning.
Jaydon Blue ($1 - $2): With Miles Sanders out for the season, fifth round draft pick Jaydon Blue is one injury away from a very valuable role. Blue is an explosive back with pass-catching chops that has recently been receiving strong praise from the team. Worth a stash if you have the spot.
Players you can drop: Miles Sanders, Emari Demercado, Hassan Haskins

WR
Likely taken but top priorities if available: Wan’Dale Robinson, Romeo Doubs
Kayshon Boutte ($1 - $2): Boutte will be the hot waiver wire add after his 5/93/2 performance but we don’t get points for last week’s stats and I don’t think you’ll feel comfortable starting Boutte in the near future. Likely a guy I think you can let your teammates overpay for.
Darius Slayton, Darnell Mooney, Jalen Coker, Christian Kirk ($1 - $2): Coming off injuries and a bye for Kirk, see if these guys were dropped. When healthy, they are all likely to be the #2 WRs on their teams.
Jordan Whittington ($1 - $2): If Puka misses any games, Jordan Whittington is the likely fill-in based off last week’s usage and what we’ve seen and heard from this staff dating back to last year.
Players you can drop: Jayden Reed, Troy Franklin, Marvin Mims, Rashod Bateman

TE
Likely taken but top priorities if available: Kyle Pitts, Darren Waller
CLE Harold Fannin Jr. ($3 - $5): Still available in 73% of leagues, Fannin has emerged as one of Dillon Gabriel’s favorite weapons. Especially with an Njoku injury, Fannin could erupt. Also, still a possibility Njoku is traded and Fannin would be in line for an elite fantasy playoff run.
BAL Isaiah Likely ($1 - $2): Likely led the Ravens in TE snaps and routes run last week. Possible we could see a changing of the guard in usage but even if not, Likely is an elite handcuff if Andrews were to get injured.
Players you can drop: Juwan Johnson, Jonnu Smith
